Five terror suspects arrested with explosives in Makueni
The sleuths who were patrolling within Mtito Andei Township received a tip-off from a member of the public about the suspicious individuals.
The detectives then found a Nissan salon vehicle registration number KBR 142L with five occupants packed outside an eatery.
They include; the driver of the vehicle, 52 years old Cyrus Wamwea Thiongo, 34 years old Abdinassir Hirsi Hapicha, 42 years old ali Gibaba Hapicha 60 years old Omar Halake Jillo and Administration Police Officer Ali Gollo Garaqo who claimed to be a DCI officer attached to Maua Police station in Meru County.
The five occupants who were en-route to Nairobi from Mombasa were then escorted to Mtito Andei police station.
On searching the boot of the vehicle, the detectives found a luggage which was in a small box wrapped in a polythene bag.
On opening unwrapping it they detectives found a cylinder tube connected to two wires, copper wires, Six wires with labelled dangerous explosives and 3-kilograms of white powder.
The five are in custody with the case handed over to the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) while the exhibits have been sent for further analysis by the bomb experts.
