Five more Islamic State hideouts destroyed in Diyala
Iraqi forces on Wednesday destroyed five more Islamic State (IS) hideouts in the province of Diyala, as a comprehensive operation is ongoing in the region.
They were targeted in Diyala’s districts of Khanaqin and Jalawla, Diyala Police Chief Faisal Kazim al-Abadi told Alghad Press, adding that the military campaign was part of a third phase of “Victory Will” operation.
The police chief additionally noted that they will not stop until they arrest all of the extremists and destroy their hideouts.
The sleeper cells of the insurgent group still imposes a great threat to the security forces and civilians.
The Pentagon earlier the day warned of the resurgence of the IS group in both Iraq and Syria while the US forces are going to withdraw from the latter.
