Five Islamic State insurgents captured in south of Mosul
The Iraqi security forces managed to capture five insurgents of the Islamic State (IS) in south of Mosul city on Sunday, Iraq’s Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
The militants were captured based on accurate intelligence information on the Mosul-Baghdad highway, the statement explained.
Some of the jihadists used to work in the insurgent group’s al-Hisbah, while the other three were militants of the so called Diwan al-Jund.
Iraq declared the “full victory” over the Islamic State (IS) in late 2017, but the jihadist group still poses a serious threat to the security forces and civilians in the liberated territories.
