Belgium extradites Russian national accused of financing Islamic State terrorists
Belgium has extradited to Russia Russian citizen Ali Gekhayev, who is on the international wanted list and who provided financial support to the militants of the Islamic State, Interfax news agency reported citing the Russian Federal Security Service.
According to the Russian Federal Security Service data, Gekhayev has lived full-time in European Union countries since 2015, and from where he funded terrorists in Syria.
As per the Russian Federal Security Service statement, in May 2017, he was detained in Brussels with the help of the Russian side, and placed under pre-extradition arrest.
Subsequently, Belgium granted the request for his extradition, and on Friday, Ali Gekhayev was extradited to Russia.
