Expulsion order against the president of the Association of Algerians in the Basque Country for recruiting terrorists for Daesh

Spain has issued an expulsion order for the president of the Association of Algerians in the Basque Country for allegedly recruiting followers for the Daesh terrorist group.

The alleged recruiter had just applied for a call from the Vitoria City Council for entrepreneurs and is a dangerous element in view of the accusation against him.

It should be remembered that the Algerian country does not accept repatriations and this person is a dangerous element if we take into account the accusation against him and his alleged links with the jihadist group Daesh (Islamic State), present in many countries and responsible for terrible attacks throughout the world that have spread terror for decades.

This person, who reportedly goes by the initials I. B., from the Algerian enclave of Chkef, was officially the president of the Association of Algerians in the Basque Country and had just applied for a call from the Vitoria City Council for entrepreneurs when, in December 2018, members of the National Police broke into his rented flat in Ariznabarra at dawn.

Allegedly, he had been chatting online for months with a young woman whom he urged to train in digital marketing and become a professional in the sector in order to help the Daesh terrorist group in this area.

According to the information, he even offered her an arranged marriage in Vitoria for which ‘they would receive a pension from the Basque Government of 1,100 euros per month to live, teach her religion and the language’. However, he was eventually found out because the girl involved was actually an undercover police officer participating in an operation by the security forces.

According to media outlets such as El Correo, he has already served a five-year sentence for ‘terrorist indoctrination’.

Even if he is located, there is the disadvantage that ‘Algeria does not usually accept repatriations, especially since Spain opted for Morocco’, according to judicial sources. Bearing in mind that the Algerian state showed its diplomatic disagreement with the Spanish government over the latter’s decision to support Morocco’s autonomy proposal for Western Sahara, which it considers to be the ‘most serious, credible and realistic’ way to resolve the Saharawi dispute.

Algeria broke off diplomatic relations with Morocco in August 2021 after accusing the Moroccan kingdom of hostile acts and political disagreements on issues such as Western Sahara, an issue on which the Algerian state supports the Polisario Front, which, contrary to Moroccan postulates, demands the holding of a referendum on independence for the Sahrawi population, when the Moroccan kingdom considers the Sahrawi territory to be part of its southern provinces and would grant it broad autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.
