Iran exposes Qatari regime ties with terrorist groups in Syria
The Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi exposed on Sunday the Qatari regime’s ties with terrorist groups.
In an interview transmitted on Sunday by Iran Daneshjoo Organization News Service, an Iranian students’ news service, Salehi said the regime of clerics (mullas) has threatened Qatar, which had earlier described Iran as “honest” that it would sever relations with it, if it did not help in getting the release of 48 Iranians kidnapped in Damascus in August 2012.
He said: “I telephoned the then Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani and informed him on the issue. I even specified the terrorist group that had kidnapped the Iranians as “Al-Baraa Battalion”, which has ties with the Qatari regime.”
Salehi added: “I informed the former minister that his country has ties with the terrorist groups in Syria and executing the Iranians will lead to severing relations between Tehran and Doha.”
In January 2013, the abductors released the Iranians in return for the Asad regime releasing over 2000 detainees, in an operation described as “the biggest” exchange of prisoners since the breakout of the war.
