Huge explosion reported near the Coalition base in Ayn Issa

An explosion was reported near a military base near Ayn Issa in Syria’s Raqqa governorate, where U.S. and French troops fighting Islamic State alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces are believed to be posted.

The blast was reported around 10 a.m. local time (0700 GMT) on Monday, June 4. Around 200 U.S. and 75 French troops are reported to be stationed at the base.

The Coalition did not immediately reply to request for comment and the number of injuries is unknown.
