Ex-SDF member assassinated east of Deir Ezzor by Islamic State terrorists

As ISIS escalates its attack in SDF-held areas since ISIS spokesman announced, on April 17, a new military campaign of “Vengeance for two Sheikhs, Al-Sheikh Abi Ibrahim Al-Hashemi Al-Qurashi, and Al-Sheikh Al-Muhajir Abi Hamza Al-Qurashi, the former ISIS leader and spokesman,” who were killed in early February 2022 by an operation waged by US forces in the border town of Atma with Turkey, north of Idlib, SOHR sources have reported that armed men, believed to be ISIS cells, have assassinated a former SDF member, who made a “settlement” deal with regime months ago and returned to SDF-held areas, where he was found dead in Al-Jaradhi village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

SOHR activists have documented more than 16 attacks staged by ISIS cells across SDF-held areas in “Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqa, Al-Hasakah, and Aleppo countryside.” These attacks waged by ISIS members have left eleven people dead; they are as follows:

• Eight members of SDF and Asayish

• A driver of martyrs families institution in Al-Raqqah.

• Two former members of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

In addition, these attacks, including armed attacks on checkpoints, patrols, assassinations, and explosions, have left 14 members injured.

Since early 2022, SOHR has documented 79 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 55 persons dead: 18 civilians and 37 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces, and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

It is worth noting that these attacks have not included the operation of Ghuwayran prison, which left heavy losses.
