Eight Syrian soldiers injured in Islamic State attack in the Syrian desert
Reliable sources have informed SOHR that ISIS cells unleashed an attack on a military position nearby the 55-kilometre zone in the Syrian desert, near the border with Jordan and Iraq, where regime forces were establishing ambushes targeting ISIS cells in that area. According to SOHR sources, the attack left eight people dead.
SOHR sources had reported seeing frequent flights by fighter jets affiliated to the International Coalition in the early hours of Friday morning over Al-Tanaf area (the 55-kilometre zone) which hosts a US military base near the Syria border with Iraq and Jordan.
According to SOHR sources, Coalition jets frequently comb the 55-kilometre zone to detect any movements by ISIS and Iranian-backed militias which are prevalent nearby that area.
