Egyptian court to rule on case of communication with Islamic State in Libya

The First Circuit Court of Terror, held in Tora Courts complex in Egypt, is scheduled to issue its verdict Tuesday on the defendants in the case of collaborating with ISIS Libya.

In the previous session, the court had referred the papers of three defendants to the Mufti of the Republic to take a legal opinion on their execution, against the background of their involvement in the case of collaborating with ISIS.

This came after the former Public Prosecutor, Counselor Nabil Ahmed Sadiq, referred ten defendants, including four people of Libyan nationality, to the case of communicating with ISIS Libya to the Emergency Supreme State Security Criminal Court, for having committed the crime of communicating with the terrorist group “ISIS” and its affiliated brigades, and those working in its interest in Libya with the aim of committing terrorist crimes against the Egyptian citizens residing there.

The crimes included kidnapping and physically torturing Egyptian citizens to obtain ransom money from their relatives in exchange for their release, as well as providing the “ISIS” group with money and information, human trafficking and smuggling of illegal immigrants.
