Omer El-Hamdoon came to live in the United Kingdom in 1978 and has remained in the United Kingdom until now.
El-Hamdoon was the President of University of Sheffield Islamic Circle Society for four years.
He held the post of chairman of the Muslim Welfare House of Sheffield. Currently, he is the National President of the Muslim Association of Britain.
Other posts he holds are assistant secretary general at the Muslim Council of Britain and a trustee of MINAB (Mosques and Imams’ National Advisory Board).
Omer el-Hamdoon freely acknowledges that the MAB is influenced by Muslim Brotherhood thinking, although it is not a formal part of the organization.
