Dozens of Taliban terrorists penetrate in the Panjshir’s Abshar district
Around 60 Taliban terrorists on Tuesday stormed a region in Afghanistan’s Panjshir, a normally peaceful province in the north of the capital, local officials said.
The attack was launched around 10:00 a.m. near Shahr-e-Ghulghula area of Abshar district, which is adjacent to Nuristan province, Suhrab Sohrabi, the district governor, told 1TV.
He said that militants took local people to a mosque and that fighting between the people and militants was ongoing.
According to the official, the area was surrounded by security forces who were trying to capture the militants.
The attack coincides death anniversary of Ahmad Shah Massoud, the anti-Soviet Mujahideen commander Ahmad Shah Massoud who was assassinated in 2001.
It also comes as Afghan government and the Taliban are expected to begin peace talks in coming days.
