Iraqi army destroys three Islamic State hotbeds in Diyala
Three hotbeds of Islamic State terrorist group were destroyed Monday in an airstrike by the Iraqi Air Force in the eastern province of Diyala.
“Iraqi warplanes raided three hideouts of Islamic State in al-Muqdadiyah district of Diyala,” Baghdad Today quoted the paramilitary Popular Mobilization Forces as saying in a statement.
“The three hotbeds were completely destroyed in the air raid,” the statement read, adding that a huge amount of military equipment and logistics were found inside the hotbeds.
In January 2015, Iraqi forces announced liberation of Diyala province from Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
The province has seen months of fighting between Iraqi troops and IS militants especially in the Jalawla and Saadiyah areas in the province’s north and areas near the town of Muqdadiyah.
