Iraqi army destroys 4 ISIS hideouts following Kirkuk attack
The Iraqi security announced on Monday that the Iraqi Air Force succeeded to destroy four hideouts of ISIS terrorists in the northern governorate of Kirkuk, two days after ISIS carried out an attack against the army, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Security Media Cell (ISMC).
The ISMC mentioned in its statement that the security operation was carried out according to accurate intelligence information provided by the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency (FIIA) of the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with a force from the Joint Operations Command.
Based on the available information, the Iraqi Air Force targeted four hideouts of ISIS terrorists in Wadi Zghitoun in Kirkuk, according to the statement.
The ISMC clarified that the efforts of the FIIA and the Joint Operation Command had positive results in pursuing remnants of ISIS terrorists and destroying sites where they hide.
Last Saturday, four Iraqi soldiers were killed in an attack carried out by ISIS terrorists in Kirkuk governorate. Following the attack, Kirkuk operations commander, Lieutenant General Ali Al-Freiji, issued an order relieving an army intelligence officer of his duties in the governorate.
The Iraqi security forces are fighting battles in some of the governorates, including Nineveh, Kirkuk, Diyala, Salah Al-Din, Anbar, and the suburbs of Baghdad, to eliminate the remaining terrorists of ISIS group.
