ISIS allows departure of families of Iraq’s al-Qa’im district in exchange for money
Anbar Provincial Council announced on Thursday that ISIS rounded up 60,000 people inside al-Qa’im in the western province of Ramadi (110 km west of Baghdad). It declared that the group would allow the families to exit the district only upon receipt of money and stressed that the health and humanitarian situation in the district is grave.
According to Anbar Provincial Council member Farhan Mohammed al-Obeidi: “The information we have about al-Qa’im district (440 km west of Anbar) confirms the presence of 60,000 civilians, mostly children, women and the elderly being held by ISIS terrorists.
He also added that the terror organization is “using them as human shields and forbidding them from leaving their neighborhoods.”
