Danish man who joined the Islamic State accused of treason
For the first time, a man has been charged with treason in Denmark due to joining ISIS. Prosecutors believe he has participated in fights.
The accused man is a 31-year-old Danish citizen. In addition to being charged with treason, he is charged with several terrorism-related crimes.
At a press conference on Wednesday, public prosecutor Lise-Lotte Nilas said that the prosecution believes they can prove that the accused allowed himself to be recruited by ISIS, joined an armed group, and participated in fighting for ISIS in Syria.
The man is said to have stopped participating in the hostilities only after he was physically injured.
