Daesh attack kills 2
As many as two persons were murdered and 11 more were injured as a result of an attack conducted by Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala, a provincial security source affirmed on Thursday.
The attack was carried out late on Wednesday night when Daesh terrorists launched an attack against a joint army and police checkpoint close to the town of Khanaqin, around 160 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Eisa Abdul Rahman informed Xinhua.
During the attack a civilian car was caught in cross fire while approaching the checkpoint, resulting in murder to two persons inside the car, Abdul Rahman affirmed, adding that at least two security members were sustained injuries in the checkpoint.
Later on, an army patrol was rushed to the location of the attack, but was struck a roadside bomb, injuring two soldiers and an officer, the official emphasized.
