Counter-terror forces arrested five suspected Islamic State terrorists in Erbil
The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Yehia Rasool, said on Tuesday (February 15) five Islamic State (ISIS) militants were arrested in Erbil governorate.
Rasool said the Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) was able to arrest the group in coordination with Kurdish security forces (Asayish) in Erbil.
Earlier on Tuesday, Rasool announced CTS arrested a leader of ISIS gangs known as Abu Islam, who they said was traveling between governorates under a fake ID.
On Sunday, he said a member of a militant gang was arrested in Sulaimani with the coordination of Asayish. CTS arrested seven other suspects in operations conducted in Anbar, Salahadin and Babil governorates on Sunday, state media reported.
