Hamas continues to declare support for Islamic Jihad

Hamas spokesman Hazem Kassem stated that the rulers of Gaza fully back the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization as it continues to launch barrages of rockets at Israel.

“The resistance still fulfills its role in warding off the barbaric Zionist aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip and will continue to fulfill its duty to protect our people in a united manner,” Kassem said Thursday afternoon.

“We emphasize that the unified and coordinated execution of the resistance through the joint operations room of the resistance increases the power of the political and media achievements,” he added.

The Hamas spokesman essentially confirms in his statement the terrorist organizations’ intention to continue fighting with Israel. According to him, the coordination mechanism between Hamas and Islamic Jihad is working and there is full cooperation between the various terror factions.

Despite the spokesman’s statement, Hamas will continue to mostly stay out of the current conflict and allow Islamic Jihad to continue to take the brunt of Israel’s response to the rocket attacks. Hamas benefits from this situation as it avoids the blame for the damage caused by the conflict among the residents of the enclave it rules.

Islamic Jihad continues to declare its intention to avenge the assassination of its leaders on Monday night at the beginning of Operation Shield and Arrow.
