Fierce clashes between ISIS terrorists and Syrian Army forces in the Syrian desert
After the liberation of the Iraqi city of Mosul from ISIS, the Syria Army has intensified an offensive against terrorists in the area between the Syrian city of Resafa, the Suriya highway and the Eastern Homs-As Sukhnah highway.
Terrorists have significantly fortified their positions in order to prevent Syrian forces from advancing towards the town of As Sukhnah, in the province of Homs, a major ISIS stronghold in the Syrian desert.
The goal of the Syrian Army is to take control over As Sukhnah for further offensive operations on Deir ez-Zor. Currently, the Syrian Army is reinforcing to launch an operation to liberate Deir ez-Zor.
Syrian government forces have control over a half of Deir ez-Zor, which has been besieged by ISIS militants for over three years. The Syrian forces continue an offensive aimed at lifting the siege and creating supply lines for the city’s residents.
