ISIS claims responsibility for Nagori, Coimbatore blasts in the name of Islam

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the November 19, 2022 cooker bomb blast in Mangaluru and the car bomb blast in Coimbatore. The Islamic States Khorasan Province (ISKP) made the announcement in its 23rd edition of ‘Voice of Khorasan’. The group claimed that its members carried out the attacks, and that ISIS has established its presence in South India.

Al-Azaim Media Foundation of ISKP released the 68-page publication in English, but did not mention the specific states where its group is active. The ISIS statement declared, “Our brothers are taking revenge for the goodness of Islam. This act is to scare those who do not believe in Islam (Kafir).” The statement came soon after the NIA raided 60 places linked to the supporters and members of ISIS.

ISKP’s recent magazine urged its Mujahideen to target Hindus, the BJP, and Indian defense forces, and to kill non-Muslims in Kashmir. The group also stated that the Indian government’s anti-Islam policy had reached intolerable limits, and that its people would take appropriate revenge.

The presence of ISIS, which has a strong foothold in Kerala, is now spreading to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
