Group claiming to be ISIS hacks Limerick college website
Investigations are underway into the hacking of a Limerick-based college website by a group claiming to be the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terror group.
A message posted across the website of the Central College Limerick this morning read: “THIS WEBSITE HAS BEEN HACKED BY THE ISLAMIC STATE IN SYRIA (ISIS).”
The message also warned: “IRELAND EXPECT US”.
The college website has been shut down after the hacking was brought to the attention of college authorities. Management are now seeking information about how the website was infiltrated.
A photograph of an ISIS fighter armed with a machine gun and carrying an ISIS flag while dressed in black also appeared on the website.
The college has so far not been available for comment.
The Central College Limerick is a College of Further Education facility providing a range of courses including full-time day courses, part-time evening courses and courses under the Back to Education Initiative in the Mid-West Region.
Last April, the website of Irish Autism Action was also hacked by people claiming to be part of terror group ISIS.
