Two people killed in ISIS-claimed suicide attack on Afghan MP’s house
Zahir Qader, the deputy speaker of parliament and member of a prominent political family long opposed to both the Taliban and ISIL, survived the attack.
At least two security guards were killed when two suicide bombers launched a co-ordinated attack on the home of a powerful member of the Afghan parliament on Wednesday, in an attack claimed by ISIL.
Both attackers detonated suicide vests full of explosive outside of Zahir Qader’s house in the eastern city of Jalalabad, Attahullah Khogyani, spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar province, was quoted as saying by Associated Press.
One guard was wounded in the attack, he added.
Other officials, however, told Reuters that the two guards were killed when one attacker detonated a suicide vest, and that the other attacker was shot dead immediately.
