Four citizens sentenced to over five years in jail for having connection with ISIS
A court in the Kurdistan Region’s Garmiyan area sentenced on Wednesday four people to five years and one month over alleged links to the jihadist group of Islamic State (IS), a spokesperson confirmed.
Explaining to BasNews, spokesperson for the Garmiyan security (Asayish) directorate, Othman Abdulkarim, said that two of the suspects were from Kalar city, one from the town of Slemanbag, and another from Asra neighborhood in Kirkuk province.
Meanwhile, he said, the same court issued an imprisonment of three years to two individuals over using illegal drugs, pointing out that one of them was from the disputed Tuz Khurmatu and the other from Kifri district.
According to Abdulkarim, another citizen from the town of Darbandikhan was also sentenced to six years in prison for carrying unlicensed guns.
