ISIS used chemical weapons in Syria and Iraq
During his speech at the United Nations on Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron accused the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) of using chemical weapons in both Syria and Iraq.
“ISIS [Daesh] used such weapons in Syria and Iraq,” he said, referring to the situation with the spread of chemical weapons in the destabilized civil war of Syria.
The French President did not specify where in both countries the Islamic State used the chemical weapons; however, there have been several reports in the past that corroborate his claims.
Macron also took the opportunity to discuss the situation with Iran, which he believes requires more than just sanctions and containment.
“I think that we need to build together a long-term strategy in order to manage this crisis and it cannot boil down to just sanctions and containment,” Macron concluded.
