ISIS caused $37 billion damage to Iraq’s infrastructure
The damages which the Islamic State (IS) organization caused to the infrastructure of Iraq are estimated to be around 42 trillion IQD (approx. 37 billion USD), according to a report by Turkish Anadulo news agency.
The report cited Abdulzahra al-Hindawi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Planning, as saying the total figure does not include the damages to the houses and personal possessions of residents of the war-torn areas.
The official added the Ministry of Planning conducted a survey in the areas which were under IS control and found the volume of the damages extremely extensive, as 80% of the areas has been razed.
