Casualties reported in the latest Islamic State attacks on Iraqi forces in Diyala
The Islamic State (IS) militants carried out an attack on the Iraqi security forces in the province of Diyala on Thursday night, with casualties reported.
Ghaleb Attiya, a spokesperson for Diyala Police, told BasNews that the jihadists raided a unit of the Iraqi forces in Baqubah, Diyala province, at around 10:00 pm (Erbil time).
“It resulted in the killing of one soldier, while three other soldiers and one civilian were wounded as well,” he explained.
He further noted that additional forces cordoned off the area, but the jihadists escaped the scene.
Meanwhile, a source from the directorate of health in Diyala revealed to BasNews that the injured civilian succumbed to his injures at the hospital.
