U.S. Army carries out 48 operations in Iraq and Syria within a month
The United States Central Command announced it carried out 48 operations, with other partners, against ISIS terrorists in Iraq and Syria last month.
The Central Command elaborated in a statement that 22 terrorists were killed, and 25 others were arrested in these operations.
The statement indicated that these operations are important to prevent ISIS terrorists from regaining their ability to plan attacks in the region and against American allies and interests.
The statement also noted that if operations to combat terrorism are not continued, the terrorists will restore their ability to recruit new members and plan attacks.
“We focus on ensuring a permanent defeat of ISIS and we continue to work with our partners to defeat the terrorist group in Iraq and Syria,” the commander of the U.S. Central Command, Michael Corella, said.
Corella praised the efficiency and professionalism of the Iraqi security forces and the partners in the Syrian Democratic Forces, noting that the fight against ISIS is continuing.
Washington is leading an international coalition to fight ISIS, and is carrying out raids targeting ISIS terrorists and leaders in Syria and Iraq.
After ISIS terrorists lost their last stronghold in 2019 in favor of the Kurdish forces with the support of the coalition, ISIS terrorists in Syria retreated to hideouts in the desert in eastern Syria.
