British police searched two Birmingham properties after man is arrested in terrorism probe
Police have arrested a Birmingham man on suspicion of possessing and sharing extremist material online.
Detectives from the Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands CTU arrested a 29-year-old man on terrorism charges this morning, Thursday, June 17.
The man was arrested from an address in Birmingham and a search was ongoing at the property and a second in the city.
The suspect was taken to a West Midlands police station, where he remained in custody.
The force released a statement which said: “Detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands CTU have arrested a 29-year-old man today (17 June) on suspicion of possessing and sharing extremist material online.
“The man was arrested from an address in Birmingham, a search is ongoing at this property and a second property in the city.
“He has been taken to a West Midlands police station, where he remains in custody.
“The arrest is part of an on-going proactive investigation and there is not believed to be any imminent threat to the public in relation to this. Enquiries continue.”
