Boko Haram terrorists to attack Abuja, Jos
The Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba has alerted police commands of alleged plots by Boko Haram to attack the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Jos, the Plateau state capital.
Mr Baba, in a letter addressed to police commissioners in FCT and Plateau seen by Peoples Gazette on Friday, directed the state police chiefs to review security architecture across all critical government infrastructures in the states.
The police supremo disclosed that the planned attack will be coordinated by Muhammad Sani, one of Boko Haram top commanders domiciled at Sambisa forest.
“Intelligence report at the disposal of the Inspector-General of Police has uncovered plans by Boko Haram Terrorists to attack major cities in the country, particularly in Jos, Plateau State and the FCT, Abuja. The proposed attacks would be coordinated by the duo of Muhammad Sani, a Bako Haram Commander, domiciled in Sambisa Forest and his Deputy, Suleiman (fru), hibernating around Lawan Musa Zango, Gashua, Yobe State,” the IGP’s letter read.
The IGP’s directive comes as Boko Haram and bandits continue to wreak havoc and displacing thousands of residents from their homes and livelihoods.
Activities of the insurgents have become more visible in Niger in the past few weeks. The jihadists have been rampaging communities in the state.
Peoples Gazette in April reported that Boko Haram insurgents took over Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger. State Governor Sani Bello warned that the marauders could invade Nigeria’s capital Abuja if not quickly curbed.
