Boko Haram terrorists killed more than 10 civilians in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked Sabon Gari community in Damboa Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno state, northeast Nigeria, killing 11 and injuring others.

Politics Nigeria reports that the insurgents, who were on gun trucks and motorcycles, attacked the villages at the weekend and looted foodstuffs and drugs, after creating panic via indiscriminate gunshots.

This was before the insurgents attacked Mandaragirau and Ghuma villages in Biu Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno, and slaughtered eight residents while other unconfirmed numbers of persons were injured at about 8pm on Saturday. They accused the villagers of leaking their plans to the military.

Troops of the Nigerian military were said to have thwarted attack attempts by the terrorists along the Mandaragarau Road in the early hours of Saturday before the fighters managed to gain access in the night.

It is understood that the victims have been buried by their families.

At least 35,000 people have been killed since 2009 when Boko Haram launched its insurgency aimed at overthrowing Nigeria’s secular government and establishing an Islamic state.
