Birmingham man arrested on suspicion of terrorist financing
A man in Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of a terror offence.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police swooped to arrest the man today (Wednesday, September 4).
Officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command arrested the city man at around 7am.
The Birmingham man is being held on suspicion of terrorist financing, contrary to Section 17 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
The 40-year-old was arrested under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act at an address in central Birmingham, the Met Police said.
He has been taken into custody at a south London police station, according to the Met Police.
Enquiries continue, the force added.
