Iraq has lost $35 billion because of the Islamic State terrorists
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi stated on Saturday that Iraq has lost $35 billion because of the ISIS terrorist organization. The Iraqi leader was quoted by the country’s news agency as saying: “ISIS, ever since its entry into Iraq and its domination of some regions, has caused an estimated $35 billion in losses.”
Al-Abadi noted that “Iraq {in 2016} contracted projects estimated at a cost of 240 billion dinars ($204 million), most of them incomplete. The country pays money, with interest, on projects that have not been completed over the {past} year.
Thus, Iraq has also suffered the loss of substantial funds due to an absence of planning and scheduling projects.”
