Australians ‘need to be alert’ to terrorism threats

Labor MP Matt Thistlethwaite says Australians “always need to be alert” to terrorism threats.

The Herald Sun reported there have been concerns about Islamic extremism following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.

“I think that we need to take the soundings and the views of our security and intelligence agencies very, very seriously,” Mr Thistlethwaite told Sky News Australia.

“We know that they’ve done an excellent job in the past in uncovering and foiling terrorist threats on our shores here in Australia.”
