ISIS attacks Iraqi Forces in three areas in Anbar province
Islamic State (IS) militants attacked on Wednesday several positions held by Iraqi forces in Anbar Province, west of Baghdad.
The militants managed to seize a few districts in Ramadi, the centre of Anbar, killing around 10 Iraqi soldiers and wounding near 10 others, according to the security sources.
Iraqi army began to send reinforcements to the areas where the clashes continued several hours after the insurgents attacked the troops with suicide car bombs, mortars and machine guns.
“Terrorists infiltrated the al-Tash and Majr areas south of Ramadi as well as the Kilometer Seven District west of the city,” a general who asked not to be identified told AFP.
IS militants captured Ramadi in 2014 and they were driven out from the city in late 2015, but the group kept hold of some towns in western Anbar Province.
