At least seven Islamic State terror suspects detained in Turkey

Turkish security forces arrested seven people with suspected links to the Deash/ISIS terror group in the Turkish capital Ankara, judicial sources said on Friday.

The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in Ankara said in a statement that the arrest warrants were issued as part of an investigation into 10 Iraqi and Syrian nationals who are reportedly members of Deash/ISIS and are operating in Ankara in connection with the conflict zones.

Operations to arrest the remaining suspects are underway.

In 2013, Turkey became one of the first countries to declare Daesh/ISIS a terrorist organization.

The country has since been attacked by the terror group multiple times, with over 300 people killed and hundreds more injured in at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks, and four armed assaults.

In response, Turkey launched anti-terror operations at home and abroad to prevent further attacks.
