Terror organization: Imam Hussein Brigade militia.

Status: Commander of the militia.

Role: After his brother Amjad al- Bahadli died from a heart attack in 2017, he replaced him and made the militia more involved in Syria and with Hezbollah.

This militia is based in Iraq and connected directly to Quds force. Some years ago, it became more relevant in Syria after due to an excuse of ISIS threat on Assad’s regime, it joined the forces who wanted to protect the regime.

De facto it is serving in Syria under the 4th division of the Syrian army, which is under the command of Maher al Assad, Bashar’s brother.

The idea to make it as an IRGC arm inside Syria was created by two man who made this operation become a success – Qassem Soleimani, and Muhammad Jaafar Qasir aka Haj Fadi.

The militia is also deeply involved in weapon smuggling operations to Lebanon and let Quds Force to be present directly with trained troops in Syria.

This is a major reason why IRGC is funding the Syrian army – at that time (2017) win win situation for both Iran and Syria.
