Activities:
Aqeel Abdelaziz Al-Aqil was designated in 2004 by the United States and United Nations, as a former founder and leader of Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation (AHF). AHF was a charity foundation, based in Saudi Arabia.
In September 2004, the U.S. Department of the Treasury alleged that its investigation had found direct links between the foundation and Osama bin Laden.
He was designated for providing financial and material support to Al-Qaeda and other designated terrorists and terrorist organizations.
In 2014, Al-Aqeel was acquitted of all charges brought personally against him by the Riyadh Appeal court, though the foundation is still banned.
