Another Islamic State commander killed by a drone in Aleppo
Another Islamic State commander killed, hit by a drone in Aleppo. There are no confirmations, but it is believed is the work of Internet Resolve which, with the SDF, continues the campaign against the leadership of the Islamic State
The ISIS leadership in Syria loses another piece. In the past few hours, a drone attack has targeted a vehicle north of Ahtimat (Aleppo), killing three Islamic State militants. These would be a high commander and his two bodyguards. Confirmation was given both by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) and by independent analysts.
There is no information neither on his identity nor on who was the author of the strike. It is believed, however, that it may be the work of Inherent Resolve, that for some time together with the SDF has launched a silent campaign to neutralize the highest Daesh leaders in the Middle Eastern country.
This, when possible, sees joint raids by the Kurdish special forces (HAT) and the Coalition (especially in Hasaka and Deir Ezzor). Otherwise (in other regions), drones intervene eliminating the threat.
As in previous cases of killed Daesh leaders, there are ties to Turkey. These use the Syrian area conquered by TAF operations as a secure base
The Isis leader killed in Ahtimat is only the latest in a long series, eliminated by drone strikes. They all have one thing in common: ties with Turkey. In the attack of the past few hours, one of the three dead jihadists had an identity card issued by the Soran Council (near Ankara).
The same goes for Fayz al-Akal, former governor of the Islamic State in Raqqa who lost his life on June 20 in Al-Bab and had a document from the Ahtarin council. According to intelligence, in fact, the Daesh militiamen and commanders are using the Syrian territories occupied by the TAF as secure bases.
This is because they know that Inherent Resolve, the SDF or Damascus cannot attack them in that area. Not surprisingly, the self-styled Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the group’s spokesman, Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, were eliminated on the border between the two nations.
