Al Shabaab terrorists conducted an attack in the capital of Somalia Mogadishu
On Monday, July 13th, there was a suicide car bomb attack in Mogadishu, Somalia. The attacker drove a bomb-laden car into a convoy that killed one civilian, and fortunately, the head of Somalia’s military escaped the attack unhurt.
Somalia’s military spokesman Colonel Abdiqani Ali mentioned that General Yusuf Rage was driving in convoy near the military hospital in Mogadishu when the car bomb attack took place. Colonel Abdiqani Ali stated, “The commander’s guards opened fire on the suicide car bomb as it speedily tried to swerve into the convoy. The bomber was shot dead, and his car bomb exploded. The commander and his guards escaped unhurt.”
The al Shabab group (al Qaeda-linked) claimed the attack. The rebel’s military operations spokesman Abdiasis Abu Musab stated, “We conducted a martyrdom operation in Mogadishu. The target was a military convoy escorting senior apostate commanders.” The Aamin Ambulance service in Mogadishu said it had collected the body of one civilian.
Since 2008, the Islamist militant group has been fighting to overthrow the central government and establish its rule based on its harsh interpretation of Islam’s Sharia law.
