Al-Shabaab claims killing nine Kenyans in Garissa county in Somalia
The Somali militant group Al-Shabaab has claimed that its fighters killed nine Kenyan workers in Harbul area, 53 kilometres from Gariss County in eastern Kenya.
“An attack by the Mujahideen in Harbul area has killed nine Kenyan crusaders who worked for the Government of Kenya,” a statement from the militant group said.
The statement indicates that the nine Kenyans killed in the attack were Christians.
This is the second attack by the Al-Qaeda-linked group in less than two weeks in the former Northeastern Kenyan region predominantly inhabited by Kenyan ethnic Somalis.
on 6th December, Al-Shabaab militants killed 11 Kenyans, including eight security officers, after they stopped a passenger bus travelling between Wajir and Mandera counties and executed the 11 non-Muslims who were in the bus.
The Kenyan government has not yet commented on Al-Shabaab’s new attack.
