Al Qaeda terrorist Abdul Sami shifted to Jamshedpur jail

Al-Qaeda extremist Abdul Sami, a resident of Bistupur police station area of Jamshedpur, Dhatkidih, was produced by the Delhi Police in the Jamshedpur Civil Court on Saturday.

The police produced the accused in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sanjay Kumar Upadhyay on a production warrant. After paperwork, the court ordered him to be sent to Ghaghidih Central Jail in Jamshedpur from Delhi.

At the same time, the court has also ordered the Delhi Police to present Abdul Rehman Katki, a resident of Odisha, Abdul Sami’s aide, in the Jamshedpur court on production warrant. Abdul Rahman Katki’s advocate Dilip Kumar Mahto told that the trial against both the other accused is going on in the Jamshedpur court.

An FIR was registered on January 25, 2016 against Abdul Sami, Abdul Rehman Katki, Maulana Kalimuddin, Abdul Masood and Naseem in Bistupur police station for joining terrorist organization Al Qaeda and indulging in expanding the organization, inciting youth for Jihad and treason in Bistupur police station. Now Jharkhand ATS is looking into the matter.

Plotting terrorist activities across the country and recruiting members for the terrorist group, the special court of Delhi Patiala House sentenced four Al Qaeda terrorists to seven years and five months rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 each on February 14, 2023.

Among those who were punished include, Abdul Sami, resident of Dhatkidih under Bistupur police station area of Jamshedpur, Maulana Mohammed of Jagatpur in Cuttack district of Odisha, Abdul Rehman Qasmi along with Mohd Asif and Zafar Masood.

Charges were framed against the accused in the case in 2017. All were arrested by the team of Special Cell of Delhi.

Abdul Sami was arrested from Haryana

On January 18, 2016, Abdul Sami, a resident of Bistupur Dhatkidih, was arrested by Delhi’s Special Cell from Mewat in Haryana. He was arrested on the tip of Abdul Rehman Katki of Odisha.

On January 25, 2016, on the information of Delhi’s special branch, the police of Jamshedpur’s Bistupur police station arrested fellow Akram Sheikh Masood, a resident of Rajak Colony, Dhatkidih, Bistupur, and Naseem Akhtar, a resident of Mango Azadnagar, from Mango. Abdul Sami and Abdul Rehman Katki were in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
