In 2002, Al-Ahmar Group purchased 32% of Sabafon (Mobile Company from Yemen). Hamid Al-Ahmar is the Director and Chairman of Sabafon.
In 2004, Sabafon announced that it has signed an Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft, covering software and support for 600 desktops. The agreement provided the company with the latest, legal versions of Microsoft software, and entitled them to unlimited product support from Microsoft’s Arabic-language service engineers. Under the terms of the Enterprise Agreement, Sabafon was also automatically entitled to any upgrades to the software it has purchased that are released during the period of the agreement, as part of the Software Assurance scheme.
