Abu Dhabi court: Man set fire to place of worship in act of terror
A man who set fire to a place of worship in an act of terrorism had a ten-year jail sentence upheld by an Abu Dhabi Court.
The 34-year-old Asian accused, identified only as M.A.A.S, was initially convicted of carrying out the arson “for the purposes of terrorism” by the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal.
The court heard that he also destroyed surveillance cameras and lamps belonging to a separate place of worship. It was not made clear where and when the offences occurred.
The verdict was upheld by the State Security Chamber at the Federal Supreme Court on Monday, state news agency Wam reported.
The judgment is now final and he will will be deported after serving his sentence.
