3 police officers killed in roadside blast in northeast Kenya
At least three police officers were killed in a roadside blast carried out by al-Shabab militants on Tuesday in Mandera County in northeastern Kenya, the police said.
According to a security report, four officers were also injured when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Banisa-Rhamu road.
The vehicle was escorting a commuter bus when the attack happened, the police said.
Al-Shabab terrorists are conducting attrition operations targeting both logistics and security forces along the Kenya-Somalia border. On Monday night, a police camp in Guba Ward in Mandera county was also attacked, sparking a fight between police and al-Shabab militants that lasted over two hours.
