182 Daesh suspects detained in Türkiye’s counterterrorism operations

A series of coordinated anti-Daesh operations, codenamed “Gurz-31-32-33,” have resulted in the detention of 182 suspects across 22 provinces over the past three weeks, Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced.

Of those detained, 43 suspects were formally arrested, while 24 were placed under judicial control.

The operations were reportedly conducted under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command’s Counterterrorism Department, in collaboration with Provincial Gendarmerie Commands and local Chief Public Prosecutor’s Offices.

Details of operations targeting Daesh terrorist group

The anti-Daesh operations took place in the following provinces:
Adana, Antalya, Aydin, Burdur, Bursa, Bolu, Denizli, Diyarbakir, Duzce, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaras, Kirklareli, Kirikkale, Kirsehir, Mersin, Istanbul, Izmir, Samsun, Sanliurfa, Trabzon, and Yozgat.

Authorities reported that the suspects were involved in activities such as:
Membership in a terrorist organization
Assisting and complicity a terrorist organization
Financing terrorism
Disseminating terrorist propaganda via social media platforms

Seizures and legal proceedings

During the raids, a significant amount of organizational documents and digital materials linked to the terrorist organization Daesh’s activities were seized.

While 43 suspects have been formally arrested, judicial control measures were applied to 24 individuals. Legal proceedings for the remaining suspects are ongoing.
